Greetings Bison Family,
I hope everyone had a wonderful summer. Many of you included HUAA in your summer plans. Local Howard University alumni clubs around the country hosted new student receptions for incoming freshmen in their area. I send my heartfelt thanks to those alumni clubs for coordinating these efforts. More thanks to the individual alumni who served as role models for these new students and advised them on how to navigate through their first year on campus.
HUAA also hosted “Bison on the Vineyard” activities on Martha’s Vineyard this summer. From August 6th through 10th, Howard alumni relaxed on the beach, saw movies at the Martha’s Vineyard African American Film Festival, viewed art and sipped wine at Cousen Rose’s Art Gallery, listened to excerpts from The 10 Year Date by Howard alumnus and author Sherrance Henderson, and, of course, partied at Lola’s. During this time, we networked with familiar alumni, met and reclaimed new alumni, and showered our Bison love all over the island.
Remember, HUAA is your organization. Whether you are attending events, participating in your local club or association, mentoring a student or making a donation to the scholarship fund, there is a way for everyone to participate.
Enjoy the remaining warm weather and keep Howard in your hearts.
