University Calendar Event Submission Policy

The following guidelines govern the events submitted to the Howard University calendar. Please review them before submitting an event.

Event Criteria

  • The Howard University Calendar is managed by the Office of University Communications (OUC) and only includes events organized, hosted, sponsored or co-sponsored by HU schools and colleges, departments, centers, and officially sanctioned student organizations.

  • Events may be hosted on- or off-campus and can be open to the general public or private events for HU faculty, staff, students, and/or alumni.

  • HU will not accept event submissions from individuals or organizations not affiliated with the university, with the exception of conferences or other events that are held in University venues, if the primary audience includes Howard personnel.

Event Submission

  • For Howard users seeking specific guidance about submitting events details, please refer to our submission details page

  • Events can be submitted by Howard personnel by logging in and submitting an event. The Howard Office of University Communications will review submitted events within 72 business hours of submission for compliance with the noted guidelines and either

  1. Publish the event, or

  1. Contact the submitter to let them know why it does not meet requirements

  • Automated email notifications are sent when you submit an event, when it is published, or when it is rejected

  • The only special circumstances the OUC will expedite event review is:

  • The Event is within 48 hours and is a university-wide event or will impact business operations if the event is not published (i.e. safety, etc.).

  • As most events do not meet this criteria, we strongly encourage event submitters to take this timeline into account when planning to submit an event, as we cannot guarantee an event will be published if not submitted on time

  • Personal events or solicitations are not allowed and will be rejected
