AI Initiative

The Artificial Intelligence (AI) Initiative was launched to support the development and implementation of AI across Howard University and to harness the transformative potential of AI for the betterment of society.  

There are 4 pillars guiding this initiative:

As a key component of this initiative, the President’s Artificial Intelligence Advisory Council (AIAC) provides direction and guidance on AI implementation throughout the institution, including academic programs, University offices and units, and strategic planning activities.

AI4PC focuses on open development AI solutions that solve current issues to bridge the gap between cutting-edge research and real-world applications in areas like healthcare and education.

Elevating Black Voices Project

Project Elevate Black Voices is a partnership between Google and Howard University to make it easier for people from the Black community to use voice technology.

Center for Applied Data Science & Analytics (CADSA)

CADSA was founded to coordinate and facilitate interdisciplinary programs in data science, collaborate with other institutes and centers on the campus, expand and coordinate research funding, and develop research.

DoD Center of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (CoE-AIML)

The CoE-AIML is a uniquely interdisciplinary research alliance led by Howard University in collaboration with the Old Dominion University and partners from the US Army and industries.

The CAC was created as an academic-public-private partnership to develop technical professionals, conduct research and support outreach to under-served communities.
